Work location: All sites/work places eg . Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire

Job Purpose:

To carry out work based assessment of candidates in the work place and deliver training solutions to employers.

Work closely with Supervisors in the work place to ensure that tasks undertaken by the candidate are both beneficial to the employer and allow the candidate to demonstrate competence against the standards.

You will also work as part of a team supporting a range of NVQ's in accordance with QCF.


Key Responsibilities

1. Communicating: Informing/Discussing/Interviewing
Answering questions, dictating, constructive criticism, verbal reports, providing information and structured/unstructured interviewing
Eg. Encouraging learner participation, answering any questions learners/employers may have, providing support to both learners/employers, conducting professional discussion to test learners understanding, providing feedback from assessments and monitoring learner progress (learner reviews). Provide information, advice and guidance to employers and potential learners ensuring initial assessments are tailored and relevant

2. Communicating: Presenting/Instructing/ Briefing
Reading a script, audiences, explaining theory, briefing on tasks, etc -
Eg. Deliver an NVQ induction. Communicate to employers regarding learner progress. De-brief learners at the end of assessments. Attend College open days, parents' evenings and recruitment events

3. Communicating: Representing/Selling (products or services)
Contacting customers, new/established customers, answering enquiries, making enquires, negotiating etc
Eg. Contacting employers regarding repeat business and learner progressions. Discussing new funding opportunities. Ensuring that caseloads are maximised according to College standards. Support learner and employer survey responses

4. Working with Information: Deciding
Own initiative, in conjunction with others, ruling on procedure, time pressure, decisions affecting people etc
Eg. Planning effectively company visits to meet learner and Employer needs whilst maximising efficiency for the College and completing timely reviews and to ensure learners are on track to complete on or before their planned end date. Input data into College systems to enable Reviewing Officers to undertake learning reviews.

5. Working with information:Learning/Researching
Training/coaching, keeping abreast of developments, rehearsing, new systems/methods, applying theory, developing hypotheses/methods etc
e.g. Keep up to date with awarding body directives and frameworks, being flexible to meet the new standards. Deliver training where necessary to ensure learner understanding via direct delivery or preparing and producing i-Study materials

6. Working with Information: Analysing/Integrating/Interpreting
Written/numerical information, examining for accuracy, summarising, evaluating interpreting rules,
Eg. Updating Learner tracking (RAG rating learners) Recording information on the college's monitoring system. (ProMonitor)

7. Working with Information: Checking
Work completion, specification/standards, inspecting by eye etc
Eg. Learner tracking, Qualification standards. Assessment planning and observing in accordance with IV procedures. Ensuring that all quality systems are adhered to in terms of course management, training delivery and assessment including standardisation and internal verification procedures.

8. Thinking Creatively: Problem solving/designing (methods Equipment/Systems)
Brainstorming, designing questionnaires/products/services, solutions to problems, research methods etc
Eg. Assessment planning for individual learners and embedding of maths and English within the assessment process and providing Stretch and Challenge opportunities.

9. Managing Tasks: Planning
Short term, long term, prioritises, objectives, schedules, revising plans, adjusting policy, etc
Eg. Using SMART objectives to ensure timely achievement of qualifications. Managing caseloads, of up to 70 learners.


10. Physical Activities: Using Tools/Machinery
Computers, precision tools, electronic machines, examining, draughting instruments, checking, using etc
Eg. Assess learner competence to awarding body standards, who use industry specific machinery/equipment/materials/substances/software etc

Other Duties and Responsibilities

To carry out any other duties as directed by your Line Manager.
