Continuous Improvement Manager Location: Burton upon Trent Salary: £46k plus company car allowance A heavy industry manufacturer now requires a Continuous Improvement Manager to join their team. Continuous Improvement Manager - Job Responsibilities and Tasks: - To facilitate the use of lean and continuous improvement techniques to remove waste and increase efficiency in our on-site processes and to ensure the site logistical service efficiently meets customer requirements - This role will influence the core strategies of the companies Continuous Improvement Programme including site visits and on-site interventions as required. (Up to 25%) This role is also directly responsible for the implementation of these strategies at their Burton manufacturing facility. (75%) - Responsible for running regular CI meetings to promote the use of 5S, problem solving, yellow belt projects and other Lean & CI methodology on site. - Operational Performance - Facilitate the application of continuous improvement techniques like "Practical Problem Solving" and Lean methodology to drive performance improvement. These should include; - Waste reduction - Machine availability improvement - Customer Experience improvement - Financial improvement through cost reduction or value creation. - To achieve this the Continuous Improvement Manager will liaise and coach all members of the management team and will support and promote Yellow belt and lead Green belt projects on site. For improvements beyond site logistics their function will typically be restricted to coaching. - Develop the strategy, processes and documentation for Lean and CI roll out and implementation along with the other members of the Central Continuous Improvement team. Introduce new techniques on site through training and coaching. - Workplace Organization - To use established principles (5S) to ensure that the workplace is organised in the most effective manner. This will include; - Ensure that all direct and indirect reports are engaged in the process. - Ensure that cost effective resources are provided to all teams. - Monitoring and challenging improvement plans to ensure progress is maintained. - Standardization of owned areas at world class levels. - Responsible for setting, approving and maintaining standards - Providing sponsorship, support and encouragement to the Team and act as a roadblock remover for them when help is required. - Administrate the 5S program on site, providing training and coaching where required to all site personnel Continuous Improvement Manager - Person Requirements: The ideal candidate MUST come from the Manufacturing Industry as a Continuous Improvement Manager. You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience: - Degree in process, engineering or materials subject or equivalent experience. - Knowledge of the concrete roof tile manufacturing process is a bonus but not essential. - Significant experience of using and/or implementing Continuous Improvement and Lean techniques such as 5S, problem solving, Standardized Work, Visual Management etc. - Enthusiastic, Quick Learner who is keen to make their mark in a manufacturing workplace - Training in Lean techniques - Lean Six Sigma Qualification - Ideally SixSigma - Black Belt For more information please call Paul Gorton on LEAN Engineering Recruitment Ltd are acting as a 3rd party on behalf of our client.
